Welcome To My Page

As Scoutmaster of Troop 177, I want to take a few minutes to tell you about what we feel is one of the finest Scout troops charterd today. Since it's inception , August 1965, the Troop has only had two Scoutmasters. Herman F, Nevers, 1965-1977 and myself 1977 to the present. We have an awesome committee with over 250 years of scouting knowledge, and most of the members have been with us for close to 15 years on average. It has been my pleasure to be part of this great unit, and I look forward to many continued years of service and enjoyment with the troop. Our sponsor The Washburn Rotary Club, continue to provide excellent support of our annual activities. In turn, we provide support to them during their annual supper and auction, as well as inviting them to our Troop camp for a delicious Dutch Oven meal, twice a year. This has proven to be a very popular event with the club. Our troop has had the good fortune to attend the 1983, World Jamboree in Calgary Alberta, and the 1989, 1993, 1997, 2001, 2005 National Jamboree's in Fort A.P. Hill, VA. During the summer months, we meet at our troop camp located on a small stream, just outside of town. We continue to hold campouts and other outings there during the winter months. Our troop meetings move to the Town Recreation Department from Nov-May of each year due to the winter weather and spring drying period. Additionaly we have a coverted school bus that is used as our transportation to all of our activities. This enables the troop to travel together, take additional gear, and ensure we never have a transportation problem.
